Country information: the UK

England is the largest and most populous constituent country of the
United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland. England shares
land borders with Scotland to the north and Wales to the west. The UK
is made up of a number of islands located to the northwest of
continental Europe. It has had a major role in world affairs, firstly
as a historic centre of the British Empire and it now fulfils an
important role in the G8, EU, UN and NATO. It experiences a temperate
climate.

Culture

Although 87.5% of the U.K. population describe themselves as ‘white
British’, England and the UK is a multicultural society. As highlighted
